Review of Targets Setting
What is it?
How can improvements be made to Target Setting to ensure that it is purposeful?

A target setting tool would be very useful as in OTrack using Summative teacher assessments from a previous Term or the most recent Key stage result as a baseline.

I also agree to other comments. Really missing the TT report that summarised the targets set for each cohort (including % of children with combined targets at ARE+)!

Deputy Headteacher commented
I echo all the comments about a report which shows %s who have been targetted for whole cohort and all groups of children. This is critical to target setting.

It would be really good if:
1. You set end of year targets in summer 2 and then they automatically mirror across the other assessment periods which can then be tweaked if needed htrough the year as part of pupil progress meeting process.
2. A way to export targets and a calculation of target attainment - e.g. Just At + percentage and Above percentage.3. It would be great to see the pupil targt when inputting summative assessment.

Target Setting overview that Target Tracker had. Having a total percentage of children targeted for ARE or above etc as a summary.
The ability to export targets.
Being able to see targets when inputting summative data.

Be able to enter targets for the next academic so that teachers who know the children can set targets for the end of the next academic year before the end of the Summer Term.
Or
Rollover targets from previous summer which can then be tweaked... -

We would like Target Setting overview that Target Tracker had. Having a total percentage of children targeted for ARE or above etc as a summary when setting targets would be really helpful.

In TT and OT, Targets can be automatically generated from prior attainment - eg, from TA at end of previous Key Stage, or based on a specific term's TA. It would be really useful for Sonar to have this and would cut down on teacher/SLT workload.

This would be used by many stakeholders e.g. Headteacher, Assessment lead, teachers, Governors and Local Authority advisors. Governors request this information and we should be able to run a report that shows this as the information is already on Sonar just not the facility to run the report.

This will benefit school leaders to show % of children targeted for each level

Currently, we set end of year targets but also end of Key Stage targets each year. We would like to be able to set our end of year targets as a stepping stone each year towards an end of Key Stage target that has already been set.

I believe every assessment lead and/or teacher would want to use this. I thought the whole point of the software was to be able to analyse data in this way rather than have to work this out yourself.
-
Zoe Strickland commented
It's important that we can do this to report to governors and see how we are closing the gap.

In OTrack the Mapping Attainment or Whole School Mapping Attainment are distribution reports which plot pupils based on their attainment in each term Plus their End of Year Targets

When we are entering our assessments, previous assessment data is pulled up and shown.
Something like this would be great when we are target setting for Summer 2.
Being able to select multiple attainment points in order to help the target setting would be great.

We have really missed the Target Setting overview that Target Tracker offered when analysing data. Having a total percentage of children targeted for ARE or above etc as a summary when setting targets would be really helpful.

What is it?
Setting targets for children in EYFS at the start of the academic year to indicate who is going to/not going to achieve GLD
